Wildwood Teacher On Jeopardy Last Night

Wildwood Teacher On Jeopardy Last Night

Those Wildwood fans who watch the hit game show, Jeopardy! were in for a big treat last night.

While Mayim Bialik was doing the introductions of the new contestants one caught out eye, or should we say ear.

Bialik said, “Matthew McElroy from Wildwood New Jersey…”

If you were like us you were screaming at your television with excitement! (omg, someone mentioned our town on television)

Matthew McElroy, who is a history teacher at Wildwood High School, was named as the second contestant on the show.

You can watch the ‘Final Jeopardy’ with Matthew McElroy at the bottom of this article.

McElroy and Bialik had a little back and forth conversation about how big reading is a part of his life before continuing with the game.

Heading off into the Jeopardy! Daily Double McElroy was in second place with $12,600. Jay, his competition was in first with $16,400.

The Daily Double question was “The Name Chevrolet Goes Back To A Work For This Animal, Or Perhaps One Who Kept Them.”

Unfortunately, McElroy guessed wrong and lost $3,000.

In the end, McElroy finished in second place with $401 after losing Final Jeopardy!

See if you could have gotten this Final Jeopardy! question right.

Mimicking her style, a 1912 rejection note read: “only one look is enough. Hardly one copy would sell here. Hardly one.”

The answer was 20th-century American novelist Gertrude Stein.

Congrats to Matthew McElroy on his winnings! So proud to see someone representing Wildwood on national television!

Wildwood will be on television a lot this upcoming year. Stay tuned for those details.

Jeopardy! has been on television for 38 years. Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik have been rotating hosting duties since Alec Trabic passed last year.
