9 Units To Be Built On Old Town and Country Motel Lot

It’s been 16 years since the Old Town and Country Motel was town down for a new development but nothing ever came of it. Since then the lot had been sitting with a fence around it to keep out trespassers.

Old Town and Country Motel was located at 418 Farragut Rd, which is next to the recently sold Lampliter Oceanside Resort and behind the Mark I Motel.

It opened in 1955 by Tom Bada and offered a TV lounge, game room, coffee shop, shuffleboard, 32 motel units with TV, air-conditioning, and heat and free ice cubes. (yes that’s what the brochure said, free ice cubes).

In 2003 it was sold to a condominium developer for $2.7 million and town down a few years later.

In a public notice filled recently, Argus Property Group, LP has submitted an application to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for a CAFRA permit.

The notice mentions that in these lots, which are 18, 19, 20, and 21, they want to construct nine (9) residential units.

The application doesn’t go into great detail about the project.

Since CAFRA permits take up to 8 months to obtain there won’t be an update on this project for a while.

Tune back later for more details.
