Mudhen Could Be Expanding Soon

It’s no secret that MudHen Brewing Company has been growing at a rapid rate and quickly becoming one of The Wildwoods’ crown jewels, but a new public notice may have tipped us off to another expansion.

MudHen Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Wildwood, New Jersey, in the United States.

It was founded in 2018 by a group of local beer enthusiasts who shared a passion for brewing and a love for the Wildwood area.

The brewery takes its name from the  “The MudHen” train that used to take passengers from Cape May Court House to Anglesea. The tracks used to be washed out by the water and mud, hence the name, Mudhen.

MudHen Brewing Company produces a variety of craft beers, including IPAs, stouts, lagers, and more. They use locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible and focus on creating high-quality, flavorful beers that reflect the unique tastes and preferences of their community.

MudHen currently sits at 127 W Rio Grande Ave in Wildwood but has seen its footprint widened by the purchasing of neighboring lots.

Its size got even bigger this past February when public records showed that they purchased the corner lot, 101-103 W Rio Grande Ave, for 2.5 Million dollars.

That corner property used to house the Dong Sin Japanese restaurant and an attached house. (No word on if Dong Sin will be opening any other location in our area).

When asked what Mudhen would be doing with the property, management said that the building would be staying for now with plans not ready to be released.

A new public notice has come out this week that could help point out what could be going on in its space.

BS Liquor, LLC had applied to the Local Alcoholic Beverage Control Issuing Authority of the City of Wildwood for a place-to-place transfer of Plenary Retail Consumption License No. 0514-33-013-009, presently sited at 127 W. Rio Grande Avenue, 102 W. Taylor Avenue & 114 W. Taylor Avenue, Wildwood, New Jersey 08260, for said license to be sited at 127 W. Rio Grande Avenue, 102 W. Taylor Avenue, 114 W. Taylor Avenue, Wildwood, New Jersey 08260, as well as 101-103 W. Rio Grande Avenue, Wildwood, New Jersey 08260.

This means that Mudhen plans to expand its liquor-selling footprint to include the new property.

At this time, there have been no applications submitted to the Zoning and Planning Board just yet but this would indicate that they do plan to use this space to sell or serve liquor.

The grand question is, what will this project start and what will it look it?
