New Pickle Place Coming to the Jersey Shore
Exciting news for pickle lovers on the Jersey Shore – the Smithville Pickle Company is expanding and opening a new location in Ocean City, New Jersey called the Ocean City Pickle Company.
The Smithville Pickle Company is a fan-favorite establishment in the historic Smithville Village, and it’s clear that the owners have been planning to expand their business for some time.
The new location, which will be on 1324 Asbury Avenue in Ocean City, promises to be bigger and better, with even more brands and flavors for customers to choose from.
The new pickle place will be opening its doors over Memorial Day weekend, and residents and visitors alike can’t wait to see what’s in store.

They sell more than just pickles. You can find pickled asparagus, Okra, beets, mushrooms, carrots and so much more! Be sure to pick up some of their homemade ketchups and Barbecue sauces, including their number one seller, Bacon Ketchup!
According to their Facebook page, they also carry over 40 different flavors of gourmet popcorn and seasoned pretzels!
Those going to their opening day celebration will be greeted by free jars of pickles, discounts, and plenty of other surprises.
The history of pickles dates back thousands of years, with evidence of pickling dating back to ancient civilizations such as the Mesopotamians, Egyptians, and Greeks. Pickling was a common method of preserving food before the advent of refrigeration, allowing people to store food for long periods of time.
Pickles were also popular among sailors, who would take pickled vegetables on long voyages to prevent scurvy. Lucky for us, we don’t need to eat them to prevent scurvy.
The Ocean City Pickle Company crew has been working the past few days trying to get the new location ready to go. As seen from the photo they uploaded, the signs are now up on the windows and things are coming along fast.
