Explosion In Southwest Philly

Were you woken up this morning due to loud bangs? At 3:20AM explosions could be heard from Southwest Philly that stretched as far was Washington Township NJ. Louder explosions started around 4:32am. (This is the big one that woke you up)

So far at this hour (5:45am) all we know is that there has been an explosion in Southwest Philly at the Oil refinery. Currently the fire was elevated to a level 3 fire with fire crews coming in from around the city.

As of now the fire is contained to only the refinery.

6ABC is projecting the wind from the explosion to carry over the Delaware through South Philly into South Jersey.

Currently I-76 Closed!!! If you need to get in take the Giarad Point Bridge.

Tune back later for information.
