Wildwood’s Popeyes Lot Sold

Popeyes Lot Sold

Back in 2017, we broke the news that Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen was eyeing up a location here in the Wildwoods.

At that time not much was known about the franchise except that it would be located at 4800 Park Blvd. This post was the location of an old Texaco gas station that hadn’t been open in quite some time.

On August 15th, 2019, the Texaco gas station was torn down to make room for said Popeyes, and mock photos for the location were leaked online months later.

Wildwood’s Popeyes Renderings Released!

The blueprints showed the building sitting at two floors with a drive-through and enough room inside to seat 44 people.

Just like many other businesses on Rio Grande Ave in Wildwood, Popeyes was making effort to turn their iconic sign into a Doo-Wop-inspired one.

Their sign would be created in the Googiestyle and have flashy colors and bold angles.

As work was about to get started on this location the pandemic hit causing construction around the entire country to come to a stop.

Rumors started circulating that the Wildwood Popeyes was not going to move forward.

This rumor was confirmed in January 2021 when a for-sale sign went up on the property.

Since the next store gas station, Riggins, was getting replaced with a retro Sinclair, folks thought maybe they would purchase the said lot to make their footprint bigger.

This was ultimately denied in an interview we had with Sinclair’s owner.

Since then the lot has just sat waiting to be purchased.

According to the MLS, 4800 Park Blvd is under contract for $975,000. The LLC associated with the purchase is a real-estate office.

At the moment there aren’t plans on the table on what they want to do with the lot.
